Villa KL

A home celebrating women in design

Villa KL is the renovation of a private home for Jennie Sinclair of Ownershift and Techposition. The brief brought together a respect for the house’s architecture and a wish to give women’s work a more prominent place in its interiors. Nearly all the furniture and objects are designed or co-designed by women, a commitment that shaped the project from the outset.

The rooms are composed around simple lines, natural textures and a soft, neutral palette. Bespoke joinery brings order to the spaces, while tactile finishes give them warmth. Careful attention to proportion and the relationship between materials creates a sense of calm throughout the house.

Choosing the furniture was an important part of the process. Beyond finding the right piece for each room, it meant considering who had designed it and giving visibility to women in a field where their contribution has often received less recognition. These choices give the home a personal connection to Jennie’s interests and values.

Sculptural lighting and artwork introduce more expressive forms against the restrained backdrop. Individual pieces have room to stand out, with differences in shape and texture adding variety without overwhelming the rooms. Craftsmanship provides a connection between the fitted elements of the interior and the objects placed within it.

Villa KL brings a clear conviction into an everyday setting. It is a comfortable, considered home where the work of women designers can be used, enjoyed and appreciated as part of daily life.
